To My Son…I sometimes wish you were still small, not yet so big and strong and tall.  For when I think of yesterday, I close my eyes and  see you play.  I often miss that little boy who pestered me to buy a toy.  Who filled my days with pure delight from early morn to late at night.  We watch our children change and grow as seasons come then quickly go.  But our God has a perfect plan to shape a boy into a man.  Today, my son, I’m proud of you for all the thoughtful things you do.  I’ll love you till my days are done and I’m grateful always that you’ree my son.  (Larry Howland)

Compassion

Don’t break a bird’s wings and then tell it to fly.  Don’t break a heart and then tell it to love.  Don’t break a soul and then tell it to be happy.  Don’t see the worst in a person and expect them to see the best in you.  Don’t judge people and expect them to stand by your side.  Don’t play with fire and expect to stay perfectly safe.  Life is about giving and taking.  You cannot expect to give bad and reeceive good.  You cannot expect to give hate and receive love.  So if you want to see positive change in your life, you need to be that change itself.  (Najwa Lebian)

The Mom Test…I was out walking with my 5-year-old daughter.  She picked up something off the ground and started to put it into her mouth.  I took the thing away from her and asked her not to do that.  “Why?”  she asked.  “Because it’s been on the ground and you don’t know where it’s been.  It is dirty.  And it probably has germs.”  At this point my daughter looked at me with absolute admiration and asked, “Mom, how do you know all this stuff?  You are so smart.”  I thought quickly and replied, “All moms know this stuff.  It’s on the Mom Test.  You have to know it or they don’t let you be a Mom.”  We walked along in silence for two or three minutes, but she was evidently pondering this new information.  “Oh!  I get it!!” she beamed.  “So if you don’t pass the test, you have to be the dad.”  “Exactly,” I said.  (Another Funny One)

One Sunday morning at a small southern church, the new pastor called on one of his older deacons to lead in the opening prayer.  The deacon stood up, bowed his head and said, “Lord, I hate buttermilk.”…The pastor opened one eye and wondered where this was going.  The deacon continued, “Lord, I hate lard.”  Now the pastor was totally perplexed.  The deacon continued, “Lord, I’m not too crazy about plain flour.  But after you mix them all together and bake them in a hot oven, I just love biscuits.”…”Lord, help us to realize when life gets hard, when things come up that we don’t like, whenever we don’t understand what You are doing, that we need to wait and see what you are making.  After you get through mixing and baking, it will probably be something even better than biscuits.  Amen”  (Unknown)

Motivational

You have $86,400 in your account and someone stole $10 from you.  Would you be upset and throw all of the $86,390 remaining away in hopes of getting back at the person that took your $10?  Or move on and live?  Right, move on and live.  See, we have 86,400 seconds in every single day.  Do not let someone’s negative 10 seconds ruin the rest of the 86,390 remaining…Don’t sweat the small stuff; life is bigger than that.  (Unknown)

Your children are not your children.  They are the sons and daughters of life’s longing for itself.  They come through you, but not from you.  And though they are with you now, they do not belong to you.  You may give them your love and thoughts, but not your beliefs.  You may house their bodies, but not their souls.  For their souls dwell in the house of tomorrow-known and seen only by the eyes of God.
